a true blemish that needs to get out of the fan base.
an interesting angle is the business perspective. The clubs that purport to have no control over what their fans do ignore the fact that they are capitalizing on ticket prices, merchandising, etc. It would be hard to imagine another viable business, in which that sort of behavior were overlooked. The other interesting aspect of the story is the american vs european distinction -- it is hard to imagine a setting in the states where such blatant racism would not be treated with general outrage. I do take exception, however, with the statement that there are so few people of color in European countries -- the real difference being the lack of a history of slavery (at least within the country) and resultant jim crow history etc, but certainly plenty of prejudice and institutional racism in the european countries
what mb said.
go cougs!
